Title: Determination of influenza. Vaccine. Coverage, and factors Lead to non – vaccination among hospital based health care workers. Abstract: Background: Vaccination of health care workers (HCWs) provides the most effective protection against influenza and its complications among high risk patients. Despite its importance the immunity rate is low. Identifying the underlying factors is an important way to improve vaccination uptake. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 492 HCWs from three teaching hospital of Tehran between December 2014 and June 2015. Participants received a self- administered questionnaire about the attitudes and factors influencing vaccination uptake. Results: Compliance rate was 27.7% in our sample. The main factors for being vaccinated were vaccine effectiveness (30.7%) and personal protection (28.9%). The inhibiting factors were unavailability (29.9%) and not interested (24.5%). Older age, higher educational level, more work experience and training were significant predictors of taking influenza vaccine. Conclusion: The coverage rate in our study was low. It seems that an effective educational program could change HCWs’ attitudes and increase influenza vaccination rate.
