Message of Vice-Dean of International Affairs

Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) is the oldest and the most prominent medical center in Iran. School of Medicine is the largest Faculty of this university, which was established in 1935. School of Medicine is the main part of TUMS that has more than a thousand faculty members with appropriate educational and research equipment, which accepts the best students of national entrance exam. 
TUMS is the pioneer in the accomplishment of international activities, such as exchanging students and faculty members in different travels like sabbatical leave, educational mission, planned trip, short term scholarship, long term scholarship, holding national and international conferences and signing memorandum of understandings with famous world centers.
 
International Affairs Deputy of School of Medicine initiated its activity at the same time of establishment of Office of Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs (GSIA) in TUMS in 2012. Mission and visions of this office established and approved by board of directors of the School. Due to this missions and achieving the goals of GSIA and comprehensive scientific plan of university, the International Affairs Office of School of Medicine is chasing the below goals:
 
  • An attempt to move towards a knowledge-based society for the development of educational and research activities and the provision of related services at the regional and international levels.
  • Applying new models for participation in international projects and proposals among different universities at international level.
  • The use of cyberspace for active participation in the international arena for the exchange of professors, students and the creation and promotion of academic interpersonal communication.
  • Co-ordination and collaboration with other university's deputies.
  • Proper use of study opportunities (sabbatical leaves) and short-term and long-term training courses for members of the faculty and students of different educational levels by holding seasonal meetings of the School Board
  • Accepting foreign applicants as international university students at the international accepting committee meetings
  • Providing facilities for participating in conferences abroad (issuing mission letters and correspondence related to the embassy)
  • Welcoming international delegates and visiting guests by setting up preset programs
  • Performing inter-university projects of students and faculty members exchange
 
 
  • Reviewing the conditions and challenges of subordinate groups by holding a seasonal council of international deputies of educational departments and hospitals
  • Evaluation of English lectures of faculty members for promotion of them
  • Announcing new events in the School News Website
  • Cooperating with Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN)
 
All of the member of International Affairs office hope that with the support and cooperating of all faculty members, especially international deputies of departments and hospitals, the School reach to its goals soon.
